Virtual Family Fair 2024!
Welcome to STEAM for All's annual Virtual Family Fair! The event will be held on Sunday, September 22nd from 2–4 PM PDT via Zoom. Students from grades 3–8 as well as their families are invited to attend!

On the day of the event, there will be separate breakout rooms for each activity and we encourage you to move from event to event to experience all of the exciting virtual events we have prepared for you!

SCIENCE:
​
Science Bowl
Race your peers to master the mysteries of science—biology, chemistry, physics, and beyond! Answer quickly and accurately in a science-bowl style showdown.
​
Science on the Fly
Dive into the excitement of impromptu science! Be ready to think on your feet as you deliver a spontaneous speech on a surprise scientific topic. You will learn the skills that are necessary for presenting your ideas and research in a clear and concise way!
​
Secret Laboratory Escape Room
Participants will work individually to solve a google form secret-laboratory themed escape room. The form will cover topics ranging from physics, chemistry, biology, and forensics.
​
Fast Facts
Based on the same Science Olympiad event, participants will be shown a grid, each row containing a specific letter (ex. A,B,C,D,E), and each column containing a science-based theme (ex. Name of scientist, name of dinosaur, element, etc.). For each column, participants will have to name a term that starts with the corresponding letter, and do this as fast as they can!

Math Magic
Join our Math Magic event for some bewildering tricks and a captivating display of math and logic! Stimulate your reasoning and deduction skills for one magical afternoon—some of the tricks might even be explained!

Chess Bonanza
Come join us at Chess Bonanza! Put your chess skills together with your friends in a game of vote chess against our 2000+ rated volunteers. No chess experience is needed, everyone is welcome to come!
​
Math Mixer
Join OCMC’s Math Mixer for a fun test of your math and problem-solving skills through logic and estimation problems, sequence predictions, and more! Compete and engage in this lighthearted competition with fun and original questions.

ARTS:

Copycat Canvas
Come and join us in our brand-new event, Copycat Canvas. In this event, participants will attempt to recreate famous pieces of artwork displayed by volunteers within a time limit. Once time is up, they will showcase their artwork, comparing their works with each other and providing compliments.
​
Skribbl Showdown
In the Skribbl Showdown, participants will demonstrate their creativity in this competitive, STEAM-themed game of skribbl.io. Similar to pictionary, participants will gain points for both drawing and guessing artwork based on a given word or phrase. Who will come out on top? Find out at the Skribbl Showdown!

Guess the Picture!
A Jeopardy-style game where participants race to identify the subjects of blurred images. Join to test your knowledge of landmarks, historical figures, animals, logos, and food items!

The Price is Right
Join OC Business & Publicity to participate in a rendition of "The Price is Right" where students will learn how upcoming technologies and other items are priced in the market. The activity will consist of a Kahoot-style game where students will need to think on their feet and engage in a healthy competition.
​
Company Emojis
OC Business & Publicity invites you to join us in an immersive and engaging activity where participants will get to play the trend-inspired game “Guess the Company by Emojis”. Students will have fun guessing prominent companies in various industries and learning about their unique business models and rise to prominence along the way!

SCHOLAR:

Character Creation
Exercise your creativity and craft a storyline using a core facet of storytelling: character creations. Participants will have the chance to discuss with peers and craft an entire character from scratch, then use their imagination to create a compelling storyline!
​
Spelling Bee
Put your spelling skills to the test at the Spelling Bee mini event! As we go through a series of progressively harder words under each letter of STEAM, participants will be given a chance to try their hand at spelling and earn points along the way.
​
Capture and Caption
Come test your investigative skills with our Capture and Caption event! Race against your peers in a Kahoot to match the right picture with a given caption as you exercise your critical thinking skills!

TECHNOLOGY:
​
Scratch the Puzzles
Through a fun and interactive game, students will be able to create a Scratch game and show off their creativity. Participants will be able to collaborate with others to invent and innovate a fun Scratch game through trivia!
​
Make an ML
With artificial intelligence technology on the rise, OC Coder’s Make your own ML Model event allows participants to tinker with Teachable Machine and explore machine learning in a fun, casual, and informative way!
​
Logic Lab
Good logic is the foundation for great programming. Join OC Coder for a fun and interactive event where participants tackle challenging logic problems, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and deepen their understanding of logical flow. No coding experience is required!

Paper Airplane Launcher
Welcome to the Paper Airplane Launcher! In this event participants will harness their engineering skills in an aerodynamics event! Each person will create their own paper airplane launcher using simply paper and a rubber band and will have time to practice launching and testing it around their house. Join us in this physics-loaded endeavor!

Hovering Helicopters
Welcome to Hovering Helicopters! In this event participants will harness their engineering skills in an aerodynamics event! Each person will create their own paper helicopter using simply paper and a paperclip and will have time to practice dropping and testing it around their house. Join us in this fun engineering endeavor

Frog leap Fest
Welcome to Frog Leap Fest! In this exciting event, participants will dive into the world of crafting by making their very own jumping frogs from cardboard. Once their creations are complete, students will put their frogs to the test to see how high they can jump. Join us to discover the endless possibilities and fun of working with cardboard!
